On a recent assignment to photograph Chef Jason Smith of 18 Seaboard in Raleigh, I had the opportunity to try some of their fantastic cuisine.
On a recommendation from Jason, I sat down to try their “Sticky Toffee Pudding” which comes with caramelized apple and whiskey whipped cream. It was a perfect desert. The pudding was perfectly textured – moist without being too heavy or dense. The flavors had excellent balance. The caramelized apples added a delicious tartness to the luscious sweetness of the pudding, as did the whiskey cream which brought a hint of sharpness. And of course, it was a visual feast too; I couldn’t resist pulling out my camera:
What I did manage to resist, despite being strongly tempted, was licking the plate afterwards!
I will definitely be returning to 18 Seaboard for more!
