“Did I not exist as a tween?” I think to myself as I flip the plastic pages of my old photo albums. One of the few pictures I can find of me as a pre-teen is my cringe-worthy seventh grade school photo. You know what I’m talking about: the one where I somehow thought it was cool to pair one of my Dad’s old golf shirts with a velvet yin-yang choker and I look like I desperately need to be introduced to a hairbrush. Man oh man.
Babies are so cute, all pink skinned and chubby. Toddlers have those big, bright eyes and they do the darnedest things. And no one goes off to the first day of kindergarten without a picture. But often, those tween ages are the lost years. The years we spend running away from the camera instead of letting it show the wonderful people we are already becoming. At ages 10-12, kids aren’t children anymore but aren’t quite teens. And those years can be hard on their self-esteem, their confidence, and their ability to recognize all their wonderful qualities.
I’m making it my personal mission to capture those lost preteen years. The goal is to help tweens look and feel beautiful and have unshakable confidence in themselves before they hit high school.
In comes the “Who I Am” project:
We are starting the “Who I Am” photography project to fill in the forgotten photo years while enriching the lives of pre-teens. The main goal is to make pre-teens look and feel special and have confidence in who they are.
Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for female models for our photography project, ages 10-12. We will ask the model and their parents a few questions, then combine the text and photographs to create a seriously impactful piece of art.
Why “Who I Am”?
We want to capture the personality of these tweens and record the last stage of their childhood before they become young ladies. We want them to realize their true beauty and specialness so that they are confident in themselves. Imagine the impact a single beautiful image can do for your tween’s self-image.
How to participate or nominate a friend:
Please fill out the form at the end of this post by Thursday, February 25th if you are interested in having your child participate in this project, or if you would like to nominate a friend or family member of yours that you think would be perfect for this. Please share with people you think would enjoy the boutique experience we’ll provide.
The in-studio session itself is complimentary and includes $50 in product credit (a total $200 value). Our goal is to create a gorgeous group of photos you’ll love and that truly show your daughter’s spirit! Many people like to use these photos as birthday, Mother’s Day, or “just because” gifts for their daughter. Our portrait collections start at $325.
We can’t wait to hear more about you and your daughter!
